Was recently in Eleuthera and the owners of the cottage I stayed in had this very same book there for guests' use. It was so helpful, I decided to order one for myself. I highly recommend this book, along with the map "Eleuthera Island Visitor's Guide" by Franko, for exploring the island! This book helped me learn about beaches I never would have known about otherwise. It helped me find the elusive gem of a beach called "Ben Bay", which was like something straight out of a fairytale. This book is truly invaluable for exploring the island, and has wonderful tips for the reader. I just cannot praise this wonderful book enough! I'll used it again and again when I revisit Eleuthera!
I did have a copy of the earlier edition of this book and always found it invaluable when trying to locate some of the very special beaches on Eleuthera. I bought this edition in preparation for a trip with a friend and found this edition to be every bit as valuable. The books directions are right on and the ratings (swimming, privacy, snorkeling, shelling, accessibility) seem accurate and allow one to really narrow down the choices.Without this book my friend and I would never have found our way to Preachers Cave and it's nearby beach, Lighthouse Point Beach (not to be missed), Ten Bay and Double Bay (both beautiful). She and I were looking for swimming / snorkeling beaches. On an earlier trip with my nephew he and I used the book to find some really good shelling beaches - his particular interest.I know of no other way (except asking the locals) to find your way to some of these beaches. Many of them are truly off the beaten path.A big thank you to the authors for helping to make my latest trip a memorable one.
Illegible printing of this book. The text has decorative emoticons printed OVER the text so it's impossible to read.The eBook has the correct printing layout. This misprint should never have left the publisher's warehouse!! Really pissed I paid this much for a paperback that is illegible.
When traveling to Eleuthera, there are very few maps or markers along the road that identify the various beaches and picnic areas. This book was recommended by the people we rented from and it was great in helping us plan our days. Particularly good was the ratings of whether the beaches were swimming and/or snorkeling spots.
We were able to find spectacular beaches for snorkeling, shelling and swimming. Worked extremely well with the dive and and adventure franko map.
The graphics over the descriptions and information about each beach make this book unreadable, especially for the price. Very slim book for $25.00. The cartoon graphics make the book seem cheap. Will not recommend.
This book is a bible of beaches for Eleuthera. We leave it in our beach house there for guests to use so that they are better able to find all of the gorgeous secluded beaches that took us years to find without the book!
The eBook edition OFTEN contained out-of-date information. Sometimes it felt like it wasted our time rather than being helpful. I did not agree with the ratings of some of the beaches. Would not recommend to others. Wish we had had a better resource to use.
