Resistant starch is a controversial diet and bucks some of the so called conventional "wisdom" about weight loss. I admit I was skeptical about this diet but one of my neighbors swore by it and the results she was getting were undeniable.Well, after giving this cookbook a real effort I can say I am no longer a skeptic. This diet really works! I can't believe how effortless weight loss becomes when you have a good understanding of different starches and how resistant starch in particular effects your health and weight loss.This book starts with an introduction that is long and detailed enough that even the totally uninitiated will have a good understanding of the diet, how it works, and why it works. Most of the book is recipes, and this is where the book earns its 5 stars in my opinion. The recipes are fully resistant starch compliant, and (equally important) they are delicious! You really don't feel like you are on a diet at all but you can just watch the fat melt away when you stick with the recipes day after day.I think this book would be a great introduction to the resistant starch diet, or if you are already familiar with the diet then it gives you a wealth of new recipes to try. I highly recommend this one.
As one who had never heard of "resistant starch" until two months ago when my wellness doctor suggested I start drinking a solution of Bob's Red Mill Potato Starch twice a day, I am so glad I found this book! There was not much to choose from and I am amazed at how this one little book of mainly recipes just spells it all out for me. I have tried a dozen of the recipes and each one was delicious. My husband thought so too. I highly recommend this, especially if you are just getting started on the resistant starch adventure.
I was worried this diet would be so boring when my partner suggested we try it, but this cookbook really wowed me. It is amazing what you can do with resistant starches, and the diet is really effective for weight loss. If you're discouraged by the diet and the boring recipes out there give this cookbook a try, it is different in a good way!
Seems very informative and has a wide variety of recipes. But one recipe, Sweet Potato Casserole, has the ingredients listed on the one page, but is followed by an entirely different recipe instructions on the following page. Guess I'll have to figure that one out on my own. Must have been a printing problem. Otherwise, the book appears to be sufficient though not superior.
Poorly written and laid out--errors/omissions in some of the recipes; information about resistant starch skimpy; no credentials or info about author provided. Many of recipes have unhealthy foods (eggs, cheese, coconut oil) so not helpful for vegans or vegetarians.
I will try it for 21 days to see if I have any success with this plan. I fail because I always feel always hungry.
Wasn’t that impressed with these recipes. The amount of resistant wasn’t listed, seems like they could’ve added more rs.
