My son is almost 2.5 and likes this book. I skipped a few pages where the chick grows inside the egg and hatched. Nearer the end of the book, it talks about other birds and reptiles that lay eggs. Simple, beautiful and to the point.

I was born in 1989 and as a kid, i remember how cool i thought this book was. Now, im 29 years old and bought this book for my baby girl. I know she doesnt understand it now, but hopefully some day she will enjoy it as much as i did when i was growing up. The overlay pages make the learning more interesting and exciting.

I read with my 4 year old and I bought this book along with the weather, butterfly, and lady bug one. These are her favorite over (i can't believe I'm saying this) Dora, Fancy Nancy, and good night moon book which use to be her all time picks. They are educational yet on their level of learning. Love the clear pages nice touch to make it where the child wants to be a part of changing pages and seeing a different picture on the other side....the reading is short and straight to the point of learning and focus.

I live this book yup until the very last page where it shows that peole way all different kinds of eggs. Without that it would be 5 stars.

Very good pictures and not so busy in each pictures

These books have been an interesting, learning and adorable experience not only to my granddaughter but to me as well. It wakes up lots of inquiries from her.

He was the author of more than seventy books and articles on subjects ranging from Argentine art and culture to constitutional law. He died in Buenos Aires in December, 1994.César Aira is a distinguished Argentine author, editor, and translator. He has published twenty novels, among them Ema la Cautiva and La Luz Argentina, as well as essays, literary criticism, and work for the theater. Mr. Aira lives in Buenos Aires.Tomás de Elia and Juan Pablo Queiroz are natives of Buenos Aires and spent much of their childhoods on Argentina's estancias. They traveled for three years researching and photographing the estancias in this volume.

wonderful pictures - a typical coffee-table-book.If you know Argentina, you never know everything, it's too big and full of history.When you see the pictures of this wonderful big farmhouses from an history time, still existing and there are still a lot of farmer families living in farm houses like in this book - you start to dream.Very impressive pictures of nature and architecture, good eyes of the photographer , interesting to see.

How often do you read a coffee table book cover to cover? Fascinating. After finishing this book I wanted to know more about this aspect of Argentine life. I wonder if the Estancias are open to travelers? This book makes me want to hop on a plane and travel through the rural regions of Argentina visiting these wonderful places.As other reviewers have mentioned, the photographs are excellent. Very evocative. The text provides very useful background information about each Estancia and additional descriptions of many of the photos. My favorite photo is Jackie at San Miguel in 1966 astride a big black horse, looking back with that enigmatic smile. She is so obviously in mourning.The Great Estancias fueled my imagination and created the feeling of almost being there. The photos make it easy to imagine what it would be like to live in this world, another time and place far away. What more can we ask of a book?

This is an awesome book for anyone interested in photography, travel, landscape or architecture. Hard to find out of print book still holds up and has some breathtaking photography in it. It made me want to jump on a plane and visit far away places. A really outstanding book. It gives you a brief history of Argentina and then goes right into some incredible views of the landscape as well as some interior photographs showing some of the opulence and well as the general population. Thumbs way up.

A gorgeous collection of photographs taken on "estancias" across Argentina's many regions, from its near tropical north, through its flatlands so reminiscent of the American Midwest, to the rugged south with its Alpine highlands. Not only is this book graced by informative text, but it is simply a treasure to gaze at for hours.

I found this Rizzoli hard bound book a delight to read and look through. The pictures are of outside & inside views including landscapes & gardens. I never knew anything about Argentina before I bought this book. About 22 properties photographed. Text is clear, specific and inviting. Also have FAZENDAS - THE GREAT HOUSES & PLANTATIONS OF BRAZIL which is just as good. If you are a visual person and see a 1,000 things in a photograph, this book is for you. Certainly made me realise that not the great buildings are in Europe or USA.

Tomas de Elia great photographs capture not only the european architecture of the Argentine houses and gardens but also the romantic atmosphere of the pampas. The book is impeccably designed and lavishly illustrated and allow us to wander into a part of the Argentine private world closed off to all but the most adventurous.

Along with all the others in the series, the Fascinating Stories of Forgotten Lives was insightful as it looks and biblical lives we normally don't talk about but can gain so much from. Another must read in the series.

Charles Swindoll has a way of writing that is like no other. HIs books are factual and he takes you from how it applies today, back to almost a graphic picture story at the time. Love his books

I love Charles Swindoll's Great Lives of God's Word series. This is another great book which unpacks a certain story centered around one Biblical figure and each chapter follows that model. Charles Swindoll does a fantastic job of writing about the practical application of what we can learn from their disobedience. A must-read for anyone learning to grow in their Christian walk.

I was surprised by this book! Not only was it inexpensive, but it highlighted characters from the Bible, a few of which I had never even heard of, much less learned a lesson from. Highly recommended for sure.

I was a chaplain in Afghanistan for the past 15 months. I used this book as my basis for Bible Studies in at least 4 Forward Operating Bases and the feedback was overwhelming. I bought a book for every participant. The material lends itself to a study lasting about 60-75 minutes and the personnel loved studying both famous and obscure Bible characters of the Old Testament and the great life lessons it provided.I recommend this book as a basis of Bible Studies or a great read about Old Testament characters.

This book helps you understand principles of God and what to remember from each of these peoples walk with or without God did I agree with everything the author said well no but that is a teaching experience of itself great book

Maybe this is the wrong point in my life, or I had the wrong expectation, but this book did not “speak” to me as did the ones about Esther and Joseph did. It was time well spent, but still a bit disappointed.

As always Chuck Swindall always teaches and opens me to new insight.
