A great book for middle and high school libraries. Teens will be drawn to the bright colors and the format which they will quickly compare with that of a fashion magazine. Page four lists what to expect from the book: learning why people are fascinated by beauty, how fashion and the image of fitting in has changed over the years, how the "it" looks are determined and by whom, and just what it is that makes us think a certain way about fashion and other things. And the book definitely delivers. A text box reminds the reader that voluptuous women were once thought to be ideal as far as beauty; compare that to stick-thin models who in marketer's minds seems to be the ideal size in the 21st century. Two pages discuss how beauty in one country or culture may mean large hips or pierced body parts while other cultures frown on these attributes as they desire other body types. The author includes plenty of information about teen boys--mostly ABOUT boys and beauty, not particularly FOR boys. Quotes from well-known people, mainly in the beauty or entertainment fields, are included. This book won't stay on the shelf for long.

Wow! This book does a phenomenal job at breaking down a massive vision into easily digestible parts of how to reduce traffic congestion, safety concerns and improve the economics of moving all types of people from one destination to the next. Rutt does a great job at thinking through all the stakeholders who will benefit (and some who won't, like EMTs and injury attorneys) and presents a plan for FREE rides for people during rush hour.The cool thing is although he presents a 10-year vision, I believe we have the power as a society to enact a lot of his ideas around public private partnerships to validate his vision and get to a radically improved way to live. I'm excited to see what the future will bring!

I'm no techno-geek, but this book was really easy to read and understand, though I admit I just read the chapters and a couple of the appendices. I have a lot of friends who use buses and they're always complaining about how long it takes (round trip, including getting to and from bus stops and sometimes changing buses) and the "weird" people they sometimes run into. It seems like this guy has some new ideas that could make it a lot better for everyone. I think it's worth a read, and hope someone can make this happen.Lord knows, nothing else we've tried has made congestion anything but worse!

Bought this, and two leopard geckos for my sister for Christmas. I work in a pet store, so I know quite a lot about them. This book is great for beginners and provides all the information you need to get started. Would definitely recommend!

it's very helpful but i don't recommend sand for substrate trust me just look up leopard gecko talk on youtube she helped me alot

I found this to be extremely informative. The other did a great job of going into details to make sure this is something that you can handle. I recommend reading this if you are a first time gecko owner (definitely read before you actually purchase the gecko)

Good book for beginners.

When you read this it's like your talking to someone who got all of their information off the internet. A bunch of things this book says are informal and untrue. I am a breeder and I was shocked at all the B.S. this author had to offer. It was made out of scrap to scrape some money from unsuspecting prey. The writing itself is very poor and while reading this, you feel like you are talking to a pet store associate who knows very little about the creatures and can tell you the absolute basics then make up the rest in a manner that seems fit.Don't waste your money on this, it's a compilation of internet sources and random (not expert) information.

Good information, very easy to understand. Knowledgeable and helpful.

The tension sneaks up on you and keeps you on the edge, and while the protagonists have depth and likable personalities the villains are eerily frightening and sinister.Doctor Marissa Frasier is a strong, capable and able heroine, who is not afraid to face the threats if it means saving people's lives. She is dedicated and caring, she is passionate and loving, and she can kick ass when required. She is smart, mature, and beautiful inside and out. She knows what she wants and is willing to admit it. I admired her, liked her, and was cheering for her while afraid for her.And Colby Agency investigator Lacon Traynor from Texas couldn't have been more perfect for the sophisticated doctor. Lacon has that southern charm and smoothness, but do not let it fool you, he is more than capable to fight for you and protect you with his life. A man with sharp instincts, sense of humor, who is intelligent, competent, loves his family, helps people in need, and can cook definitely gets me swooning over him!From the very first meeting, Marissa and Lacon are drawn to each other. "Body of Evidence" follows Dr. Marissa (Issy) Frasier as she is first confronted by her abusive ex-husband and then framed for his murder- and targeted by the mob. Luckily, she knows someone at the hospital who has enlisted the help of the Colby Agency for her. Lacon Traynor swoops in to help her after she discovers the body of her ex-husband in her bed and sticks by her side from then forward.Marissa is pulled into even bigger plots than she could have imagined, by the head of organized crime- Vito Anastasia. He has decided Marissa is the woman he wants to work for him as a lover and a physician. As Anastasia controls people in powerful places, Marissa is left able to trust only one person- Lacon- and luckily, he will not let her out of his sight. Together, they try to work with the police and stay alive, even when everything seems to be conspiring against them.Overall, it's a solid romantic suspense. I felt like I didn't really get into the mindset of the major characters, particularly Lacon and Anastasia. The motives didn't always feel readily apparent and so I had a hard time getting into the thriller aspects of the book. In terms of the romance, it takes a backseat to the main plot, but when it is brought to the forefront, it's done pretty well. The flow of the book is great, and it's a pretty fast read- I read it in an afternoon easily! I never felt lost in the plot, though I did wish I had more insight into Lacon and Anastasia to really get into it more.Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher through netgalley. All opinions are my own.

The type of characters you hope you can keep reading about in future books. I like Debra Webbs style ofwriting.Dr. Frasier, Issy, wakes up to find her ex-husband lying dead next to her. After threatening to kill her the night before he has been murdered in her bed. Knowing someone came into her home, violated her space and shot him right next to her without her hearing terrifies her. She is a light sleeper how could this happen? She hires Colby Agency and they send Lancor Traynor, a highly skilled investigator and protection expert from Texas. It is a bit distracting staying in the safe house with such a viral strong handsome man wearing cowboy boots. Her life as a doctor and her pain after her divorce left her little time or desire to date. When they find out the mob is involved she is shocked. What her ex-husband could have been involved in and why are they now after her terrifies her. Lancor and Issy need to clear her name. Not knowing who on the police force they can trust not to be in the mob bosses pocket. Issy is spunky and let's the mob boss know she won't be pushed around. Knowing she can be makes Lancor very determined to solve this as fast as possible to keep them both alive.

There are breakfast recipes, seafood recipes, Poultry recipes, red meat recipes, soups, stews, chilies, pasta's and grains, vegetables, vegetarian recipes, snacks and desserts. All these recipes are saved with simple ingredients and easy cooking directions. All instructions are very detailed, easy to follow and with full nutritional information. I have tried some recipes of this cookbook and all my recipes were really great. I liked this cookbook very much and I'm glad to have it on my Kindle to use when I need it. I highly recommend this book for those who want to try new recipes after the Freestyle Program.

My BFF wanted to know about WW to help her lose weight. I found this book and had it sent to her. She loves it. It gives her tons of information about the program and she likes the recipes.

I thought this was filled with some amazing tips and resources. This is the first time I heard of the freestyle approach and I loved how this book put everything together and easily explained it so it was possible to follow. A way to eat the food that still tastes great but lose weight and feel refreshed, healthy, and better about your body.

Good recipes, but the printing is hard to read in some places and some of the recipes didn't have oven cooking temps. I am going to keep the book, and try the recipes.

Nice book to start me on a way to change my way of eating towards plant based menus to benefit my health and weightloss.

This book is really awesome. There have some good and effective tips in this book. All of the recipes are easy to make. I have enjoyed reading this book. Highly recommended for all.

This book plays to the entrepreneurs desire for fame fortune and IPO’s, and aim to be “category Kings” AKA first mover by inventing new language and taxonomy to describe your business. This is ironic because the authors use their own tactic to rename the timeless tactic of Positioning and following through.The Good: Taking time to strategically position your business and reconcile it with your market is a regular exercise of a smart business owner. Their process for this is sound but they try to rebrand it as something unique.The Bad: A majority of the book is meta analysis and reference to other much better books like Theil’s 0 to 1 or the timeless classic Positioning. Go buy and read those books instead. The read itself is full of way too many generic success stories, most you’re familiar with, and then pandering to advertise the authors’ consulting process.The Ugly Truth: A few problems the author doesn’t mention. Being a first mover or category king, you are 4x more likely to go out of business, and even if you survive, you’re statistically bound to make less of a profit then the competitors who come to unseat you. Looking at all the successful category creators gives you a false sense of risks and negatives of being a first mover.

Not sure I would give any biz book 5 stars, but I read about 3-4 a year and this is one of the best in recent years - in part as the playbook for category domination is well-timed for my business. The thesis is well-founded - a few companies (1-3) take almost all the spoils from new categories. for example in marketing automation software, here's the rundown for value creation for the companies that launched in last 10 years: Marketo $1.8B, Eloqua $850M, Pardot $80M and the rest....? Or file management: Box, Dropbox, that company that renamed itself...and ??? You get the point.Would like to have read more and less obvious case studies - google, amazon, salesforce etc are all so unique in the scale of their success and category domination. would like to have heard more about companies that jumped into the #1 slot in categories that had 3-8 competitors early on - and how they used their own category "lightning strikes" to turn the category into a 1 or 2 horse race.Advice on how to do category design in a big company or for own personal life seemed a little thin - but the core of the book is aimed at entrepreneurs and provides the playbook and advice to go after a category and win. So if you think your company has potential, buy this book. I just bought ten more for my mgt team and other CEO friends.

Although I read this book in 2019 I wish I read it 10 or 20 years ago. I’m sure that the message and execution ideas would be just as relevant in 2029 as well.The take home messages is to “be different not better”. I found this valuable as I was recently struggling on how to reinvent my career, and myself for that matter.The book takes you through a whirlwind yet very personal tour of both the startup and corporate world of how to establish your business as a category king who dominates a new market category—one that you become the control point for because you are the one to have defined the problem. You are also the one to frame the problem so succinctly that people could only see you as the solution to that problem.This book will probably be the best investment I make this year and I’m looking forward to looking back on my results in 2020.Don’t think about buying this book. Just buy it. Of the dozens of book reviews I’ve left this is the one that I will most remember. This is the only book to provoke that emotional response that will get me off my butt and get shit done.

Dillon has done an extraordinary amount of research to develop the book -- her Dad's CIA colleagues around the globe, papers left behind by her mother, her five siblings, and General Polyakov's family. Dillon has done an incredible ability to get people to open up to her and provide unanticipated insights into the world of spycraft. This is not the fictional James Bond with his glamorous lifestyle and his shaken, not stirred martinis. These are real people who have chosen a dangerous profession. There is no doubt that the Russians, Chinese, and North Koreans today have agents operating in the U.S. Let's hope the CIA has been equally adept at infiltrating those countries.

I usually read fiction (and love the cold war intrigue genre), but I overhead someone talking about this book, went online and ordered based on the many positive reviews - and I'm glad I did!As some have noted, even though the book is factual (and meticulously researched), it reads smoothly, more like fiction; doesn't feel like you are plowing through an educational treatise which is often the case with historical non-fiction.It would be a great basis for a movie or series :)

I might have fallen in love with poetry if this book had existed when I was a young person. Although I bought it for my grandchildren, there is something about reading many of the poems that just brings a smile to my face. I also wish I would have had this book when I was teaching English. It contains wonderful examples of a wide variety of forms of poetry.

If you want to learn more about poetry, but worry about it being "too deep" with "hidden messages", then this book might be for you. By presenting poetry that is child-friendly (a child can understand), learn about the rules and make-up of various poetic forms such as the sonnet, villanelle, pantoum, and sestina. I ordered this book to help me with my writing by providing me with examples of poetic forms so I can challenge myself to try writing poetry in new forms. We really can learn a lot from children's books, and this book is so much more fun to read than a formal book of adult poetry that might present the same poetic forms.

Funny and educational but not pedantic.Any kid (or, ahem, adult) can learn a lot about interesting and challenging verse forms from thisbook, and the selection of poems to include is excellent: varied and with an interesting illustration style that fits.

I think this book is best used with older kids, very bright ones in grades 5-7. The illustrations are gorgeous and fun, but the book is about poetic forms, and some are pretty sophisticated -- many high schoolers are not even taught them. I will use it with my high school students.

A great book for teachers who want to introduce poetry in the life of students. It briefly explains some different forms of poetry ABS illustrate them with a poem that is always suggestive. A great tool and a pleasure to read and see: the illustrations are also a great work.

When I first saw this, I loved it. I bought it for a friend, but I wanted to keep it, so she is getting it too.I especially loved the art, good ideas for my quilting friends.My review just disappeared. But again, I was intrigued with the text and lessons in kinds of poetry withgreat examples. And I loved the illustrations. So, I am giving it and keeping it both.

The author in this book is careful to illuminate readers on the structures of the poems without letting the descriptions take away from the poetry itself. The beautiful pictures celebrate the poetry, and the overall work highlights the fact that structured poetry can be expressive and poignant. While there's nothing wrong with free and blank verse poetry (free verse is included in the book, too), many young writers seem to find structured poetry inhibiting. The author and illustrator of this book show that it can be a moving way to express yourself.The levels of poetry differ greatly, making it appropriate for almost any grade. Teachers can choose particular poems to read from or teach, or they can offer the book to students during reading workshops.
