I was previously using Murach’s Java book, which is a good book, but after having someone recommend me this book, I use this one as my primary book for reference. It explains things in detail without becoming too verbose, especially for someone who has programming experience in another language; but in addition, a complete beginner could also find this book very useful.
Very well written book. It cover most major topics in Java. I especially liked the coverage of JavaFX, "Lambdas and streams", and "Concurrency and Multi-core performance. The books programming example are clear and well documented. Also, I like the authors emphasis on using Java's built-in library for programming advanced functionality instead of creating code from scratch.

Excellent text for experienced programmers in other languages. As with other Dritel books it is well thought out.
It seems to be a nice book. I like the way that it integrates UML into the tutorial.
