Good book. Not what I expected.1\3 book is about SharePoint1\3 SQL Server1\3 Power viewIm is a professional excel analyst with 20+ excel books. This book doesnt focus on excel analysis but rather teaches the user to use sql server & SharePoint as well as power view. This book is only going to help if you deal with big data tables (100k+ rows) or if you want to learn power view or share point. This book helps with enterprise level analysis (sql server). This book is a great way for an excel analyst to get their feet wet with sql server. You will have to go out of your comfort zone to learn software that is not excel. This is odd because the title says excel analysis. I do appreciate it doesn't rehash basic excel material. This book does not teach analysis tools outside of power view, a newer suite of tools. This is why the title says "Business Intelligence" aka Power View. Only this first third of book is on Excel. The rest is sql server & SharePoint. The SharePoint section is basically filler, which is an industry practice.

The Excel tools described in this book have allowed me to make a positive impact on large volumes of excel data very quickly. We have hundreds of files to process that are all the same format. Using Power Query as described in the book, I was able to bring all the data into one file and see patterns within a couple of hours that would have taken days looking at them individually. Using the Power View add-in and mapping the data with addresses (US addresses) showed me that we have errors as some of the data mapped to Europe and Australia locations. The time saved and value have already far outweighed the cost of the book.

Covers a lot of ground without giving as much detail in each area as I would like. However, it does introduce some ideas that can be further developed in detail at a later time. Good if you are just starting out in the field like me.

I purchased the book as a refresher for myself and it's pretty good for me. Direct and explanatory.

This book offers good information. I did not give it a higher rating only because I was expecting it to provide more information.

I highly recommend this book. It covered the areas I needed.

I like the step-by-step instructions and details. Easy to.follow and understand what is going on.

Good understandable info
