This is an excellent volume and has helped me greatly with my COPD. I am down to 60% lung capacity and was having trouble just getting around the house. This book has helped a great deal. It is written in a friendly and helpful manner from someone who intimately knows the problems, fears, and difficulties faced by those with COPD (has worked with many people in the rehab process). I highly recommend this work for those with mild or advanced COPD issues. It provides, basically,. a breathing rehab course in a book. The author has a great deal of understanding and compassion for those with COPD and writes in an easy to read format. She also covers basic issues and tells you what you nee to know about COPD and it's treatment. Can't think of a better way to tackle a bad problem. Thumbs up for this wonderful lady.
My sister was diagnosed as having COPD a few years ago. Since then she has read all available material on the subject. After finding this book on the new book shelf at the library, she asked me to order it for her. She believes it is the most comprehensive, up-to-date material written on the subject, with many suggestions about diet, exercise, etc. She is putting into practice everything she's read, and so far, so good.At her last checkup, her lungs were clear. This has given her new hope that she has some control over her condition.
I read every single word with intense interest - was especially interested in emphysema issues. There is much to learn in this book - whether or not it applies to any particular person's problems - it has a lot of good, general information and assistance. There are also pages of helpful charts, lists that can be adapted to anyone's health conscience needs. I strongly recommend this book for anyone who has COPD and questions about how to deal with this disease.
The best book on COPD we found.This book seems to be the most accessible and provides the most comprehensive coverage of COPD. This was a recent diagnoses and found answers to just about all of our questions. A good title you should keep in your library forever.
Gave this book 4 stars because it is aimed at an audience with very serious problems and is therefore not so helpful to those who just need some suggestions. If you need to sit in a chair while preparing food to avoid tiring yourself you are the proper audience for this but if so you need medical intervention, in my untrained opinion.
I got this book for a friend with COPD. She found it incredibly helpful and informative. When you have a frightening illness, information is power, perhaps one off the few powers you have left to exercise. Thank goodness for helpful books like this one.
Very simple advices that everyone will recommend you. Nothing new. Wast of money. Do not recommend it. I am so disappointed.
